Karva Chauth is an important Hindu festival celebrated by most of the married women in North India.The occasion is celebrated by married women fasting throughout the day from sunrise till moonrise,by neither having any food nor a drop of water,for the long lives of their husbands.
The fast is ended in the evening after offering water to the Moon God and performing the rituals ,along with their husbands.It is observed on the Fourth day (Chaturdashi)of the Kartik Month of the Hindu Lunar Calendar.
After the fast is ended and a meal enjoyed by the family,a lot of women prefer giving gifts to their mother-in-laws and husbands too,do the same for their wives.
